Country Painting - What is a Pattern -

In this article I want to explain to you very simply what a Country painting Pattern is.

If you are approaching Country Painting for the first time, it's normal to feel a little “lost”.

You read many technical terms, many of which are in English, see so many designs that you would like to paint and have no idea where to start ... it's absolutely normal don't worry because it happened to me too !!

Believe me when I tell you that it's all much simpler than you think!

When I started painting it was the year 2007 and the first questions I asked myself were:

• What is a Country Painting Pattern ?
• If I'm unclear about some steps, who can I turn to?
• What do I need to get started ? 

A Country Painting Pattern is simply a Template 

There are two types of Patterns:

• Paper format Pattern : this type of Pattern is what you can purchase at Specialty Stores for Country Painting, at trade fairs such as Creattiva Bergamo or Abilmente in Vicenza (I mention the two most famous fairs). Usually, inside you will find, in addition to the instructions, the design guidelines and also photographs.
• Digital format Pattern : this type of Pattern is also called E-Pattern  and is in the classic PDF format.

  It’s digital because you can easily download it to your PC or Mac once you have purchased it.

The biggest advantages of purchasing a digital pattern are mainly two:

1. It’s IMMEDIATELY available as soon as you make the payment

What Will You Find Inside My Patterns?

Inside my Patterns, you will find all the explanations and various steps to create the project you have chosen to paint.

Below, I will list exactly what you will find inside my Country Painting patterns  that you can find in digital format in my Shop :

• the cover with the image of the finished project.
• The first part of the pattern is dedicated to the preparation of the support and to applying the base coats, also called Basecoat (which colors I used and where they should be applied).
• The final photo of the painted base , this way you will be able to more easily understand the result you need to achieve before going on to create all the shades and details.
• The second part of the pattern is dedicated to shading (Float) and highlighting (Highlight) … in short, to shadows and lights. You will find indicated where, how, and with which color to create the shadow or light.
• Depending on the complexity of the project, you will find all the detailed photos of the various steps for both shading and highlighting.
• The guidelines of the drawing, these should be transferred onto the support using graphite paper. I really love to simplify this step by having the main lines of the drawing laser-engraved onto the wooden support, so in this case,  the graphite paper is used solely to transfer the final details of the project).
• A complete and detailed summary list of everything I used to create the project: the color chart (Decoart), accessories, and embellishments. (In the section “Templates and Kits” you will always find the complete kit with the template and all the embellishments I used)
